Opposite Lock and Amelec are pleased to announce the launch of the InterVOLT DCC Pro Battery Charger.
It has been designed specifically for use in 4WDs, RVs, Buses, Coaches, Caravans, Campers or any vehicle with a 12VDC electrical system where there is a requirement to charge one or more auxiliary batteries.
The InterVOLT DCC Pro is a standalone power conversion device. It utilises the host vehicles main battery as the sole source of power to develop its own output to charge a variety of different battery types according to their specific charging requirements. No modification to the vehicles original is required ensuring that the manufacturers electrical system is not compromised in any way.
In a growing Automotive market, where a variety of variable output alternators are becoming the norm, where work and leisure vehicles have need for one or more auxiliary batteries to be charged and managed to operate winches, radios, refrigerators and lighting and where this must all happen independently of the vehicle’s own electrical system, the InterVOLT DCC Pro provides all that function and more.
The InterVOLT DCC Pro is factory-programmed so that the operator can select the appropriate battery type from Standard Lead Acid, Absorbed Glass Mat, Jellified Electrolyte or Lead Calcium. The unit will overcome the variations of output experienced with variable output alternators as well as overcoming the effects of Voltage Drop over longer charging circuits. This makes the device suitable for every 12 Volt vehicle on the market and pretty much every auxiliary battery application.
In addition, the InterVOLT DCC Pro can accept input from a Solar Panel, without the need for a regulator, and manage that Solar Charge input, with reference to the presence or absence of charging current from the vehicle alternator, and in doing so, share the charge across both the auxiliary and main batteries, in turn. This charging regime has proven to be 30% more efficient than using traditional external solar regulators.
Whilst all this “intelligent†management is going on, the InterVOLT DCC Pro is providing continuous data to the vehicle operator by way of a very attractive dashboard monitor, informing of Charge Current and Battery Voltage, and with engine off, the Voltage and Wattage of the Solar Charge Input.
All these features are contained within one a model device which covers all the variables, Voltage or Ignition Triggering, Battery Type and Solar management. The unit’s universal application also encompasses a “Soft Start†characteristic to the charging input to the auxiliary batteries. This means that regardless of battery type or circuit application, even a completely flat battery will be charged quickly, but without any electrical harm from excessive start-up current.
